Electric lift pump (pre-filter) 228-9129 JCB, aftermarket

For the JCB machines: electric lift pump (pre-filter) 228-9129, an aftermarket part. According to the product card, this electric lift pump is used with the pre-filter on Dieselmax engines; the card also lists 349-1063.

The pump is chosen by part number according to voltage (12 or 24 V), flow and connection type, and the card may give both the engine maker's and the machine maker's numbers. When the pump is changed, the pre-filter element is renewed too, as a blocked filter strains the pump and makes it overheat. Running dry leaves the pump without lubrication, so the tank is not run empty and the pump is not left running for long when fuel runs out. Keep the wiring dry and check the connectors for corrosion. The pump's electrical connections are checked at every service.

Fitting

Before the change, disconnect the battery negative, clamp the fuel lines and clean around the pump. Mark and disconnect the hoses and connector. Fit the new pump following the flow arrow, using the clamps and rubber mounts from the fitting kit if there is one. Once connected, switch the ignition on and off several times to fill the system and purge air. Run the engine and check the fuel pressure and the joints for leaks.
