The electric fuel pump runs when the ignition is switched on and delivers fuel under pressure from the tank through the filters to the injection pump. Unlike a mechanical lift pump, it fills the system without the engine turning, which makes starting easier and speeds up bleeding after filter changes. The pump usually sits next to the pre-filter or water separator and has an electrical connector. Signs of failure are no pump noise when the ignition is turned on, hard starting or stalling under load, and low fuel pressure. Fitting

Before the change, disconnect the battery negative, clamp the fuel lines and clean around the pump. Mark and disconnect the hoses and connector. Fit the new pump following the flow arrow, using the clamps and rubber mounts from the fitting kit if there is one. Once connected, switch the ignition on and off several times to fill the system and purge air. Run the engine and check the fuel pressure and the joints for leaks.
