Fuel injector 320-0680 CAT, OEM

Fuel injector 320-0680 is an OEM part for the Caterpillar machines.

The biggest factor in injector life is fuel cleanliness: the nozzle holes are a few microns across, and water or dirt in the fuel wears or blocks them. On machines running on poor fuel, the injectors are renewed sooner. When an injector is changed, the sealing washers, O-rings and leak-off seals are always renewed as well. If the engine has run on poor fuel, the fuel filters and water separator are renewed along with the injectors and the bottom of the tank is cleaned, otherwise the new injectors will soon fail for the same reason. Keep the injector well and connections clean. The code on the injector body must stay legible.

Fitting

Before removing the injector, clean around it, disconnect the fuel lines and connector and cap the open connections. Always remove the old copper washer from the well. Fit the new injector with a new washer and O-rings and tighten the clamp and the high-pressure line nut to the specified torque, connecting the high-pressure pipes without strain. After assembly, bleed the fuel system, run the engine and check for leaks, smooth idle and smoke; on electronic systems, enter the injector code.
