Hydraulic filter, aftermarket

Hydraulic filter is an aftermarket part for the construction machinery, trucks and other vehicles.

The hydraulic filter traps wear particles and dirt in the hydraulic oil, extending the life of the pump, control valves and cylinders. Most hydraulic system failures are caused by dirty oil: particles wear valve spools, increase internal pump leakage and damage seals. The filter is changed at the maker's interval, shortened on machines working with a breaker or other heavy attachments. When the filter clogs, its bypass valve opens and oil starts circulating unfiltered. The filter comes new.

According to sources, this hydraulic filter element is the same size as the HC9800FKN8H type pressure filter element used by hydraulic system makers. Choose this filter by comparing its dimensions (outside diameter, height, thread or element bore) and seal shape with the old one. Other parts are in Other filters.

Fitting

Inspect the old element: metal swarf or shiny particles on it point to wear in the pump or cylinders, and the system then needs checking. Record the date and engine hours of the change in the service log. Check the hydraulic oil level in the position the maker specifies (usually with the arms in a set position), since a reading taken in the wrong position leads to over- or under-filling.
