Dipstick tube 123/05933 is an aftermarket part for the JCB machines.

The dipstick tube guides the dipstick to the correct measuring point in the sump, with the dipstick fitting in its upper end. A bent or broken tube gives false level readings or stops the dipstick going in; a loose tube lets dust in and crankcase gases out. Tube shape and length depend on the engine and machine, so it is chosen by part number. Correct oil level readings are vital for the engine: too little oil endangers the bearings and turbo, too much causes foaming and raises crankcase pressure. The tube is pressed into the block or sump or fitted with an O-ring, and held at the top by a bracket. It is metal and bent to cope with engine vibration. The tube is supplied new, with the dipstick chosen separately. The part number defines the tube's shape and length. Keep the tube opening closed.

Fitting

Push the tube fully into its bore with the O-ring oiled and secure the bracket. Afterwards check the dipstick goes fully home and the level marks read correctly.
