For the JCB machines: turbocharger 02/912597, an aftermarket part.

The turbo bearings are lubricated and cooled by engine oil; stopping the engine straight from high revs lets the oil coke in the bearing and shortens its life. That is why the engine should idle for a few minutes after hard work. Housing orientation and flanges differ between engines, so the turbo is selected by part number. When ordering, give the engine serial number and the data from the old turbo's label. If oil has collected in the intake and intercooler after a turbo failure, clean them out as well. Because the turbo shaft spins at very high speed, oil cleanliness directly sets bearing life. The turbo bolts to the exhaust manifold by its flange; the oil feed and drain pipes and the intake and boost hoses connect around it. The wastegate actuator limits boost pressure. The turbo is supplied new. Boost pressure and wheel sizes are matched to the engine; the wrong turbo causes power loss or excessive boost.

Fitting

Before fitting the turbo, check the exhaust manifold and intake for debris: any particle from the engine will damage the new turbo wheel at once. Connect the oil feed pipe after priming the turbo with oil, and run the engine without revving for the first minutes.
