Pulley bearing 320/08626 JCB Dieselmax, aftermarket

Pulley bearing 320/08626 is an aftermarket part for the JCB Dieselmax 444 engine.

The bearing is pressed into the hub of an idler or tensioner pulley and lets the pulley turn on its spindle with little friction. A sealed bearing is greased for life; when the seal is damaged the grease is lost and dust and water get in. A worn bearing hums, clicks and gives the pulley play, and a seized one burns or breaks the belt. If the pulley itself is sound, replacing only the bearing is an economical fix. The bearing dimensions (bore, outside diameter, width) are set by the pulley hub and spindle. When replacing it, check the spindle and hub bore for wear, as a loosely fitting bearing soon fails again. The bearing is supplied new. The bearing is a sealed type, greased for life.

Fitting

Remove the old bearing with a puller or press; press the new one in by its outer race only, without loading the inner race or seal. After assembly, spin the pulley by hand to check it turns freely and quietly.
