Air filter duct 332/H8180 JCB 3CX/4CX, aftermarket

Air filter duct 332/H8180 is an aftermarket part for the JCB 3CX and 4CX backhoe loaders.

The hose carries fluid or air between the engine and another unit and is flexible enough to take up vibration. With heat and age a hose hardens, cracks or swells inside, leading to leaks, unfiltered air on the intake side or pressure loss in the cooling system. Its shape and diameters are moulded to suit the connection points, so it is chosen by part number. At services, squeeze the hoses to check for hardness and cracks. A leak in an intake hose means unfiltered dust entering the engine, and in a cooling hose it means a risk of overheating. The inner layer can deteriorate without showing outside, so ageing hoses are replaced at intervals. The clamps are checked together with the hose. The hose is supplied new, with clamps chosen separately. The hose is made of rubber.

Fitting

Push the hose fully onto its spigots and tighten the clamps in the right position, not right at the hose end. For cooling hoses, bleed the system after filling and check for leaks.
