Battery isolator key 701/20801 is an aftermarket part for the JCB machines.

This part is the red plastic key of a battery isolator with a removable key, listed in the product card as 701/20801. Inserted and turned, the key connects the machine's battery circuit; with the key removed, the circuit stays open and the machine cannot be started, which protects against both battery drain and unauthorised use. A lost or broken key leaves the machine unable to start, so keeping a spare is advised. The key must suit the type of isolator. The key's metal tip turns the contact mechanism inside the isolator, and a worn or bent tip stops the isolator closing fully, so the contact can heat up.

JCB 3CX and 4CX wiring diagrams before and after May 2009: sheets and component keys

Section C of the JCB service manual (publication 9803/3290-15) gives the JCB 3CX and 4CX backhoe loader wiring diagram in two versions: one for machines built up to May 2009 with analogue instruments and one for machines from May 2009 with the digital instrument panel. On the earlier machines the main machine circuit takes two sheets, with separate circuits for the gearboxes and options; the later circuit runs to 15 sheets. Below are the main sheets, the component keys and a guide to reading wire numbers.
