Temperature sender 716/24200 is an aftermarket part for the Perkins-engined machines. The card also lists 701/56600.
A temperature sender measures coolant or oil temperature and passes it to the instrument panel, triggering a warning when the temperature exceeds a set value. The resistance of the thermistor inside the sender changes with temperature, and the gauge shows this as temperature. A faulty sender makes the gauge read constantly low or high, sets off a needless overheat warning or misses real overheating. Before replacing it, check the coolant level, thermostat and radiator; the sender can be verified by measuring its resistance at different temperatures. Scale and deposits on the sender tip slow the reading, so using the right antifreeze in the cooling system also helps the sender read accurately.

Compatibility
According to sources, 716/24200 is a water temperature sender fitted in the thermostat housing, used on JCB backhoe loaders and telehandlers with Perkins AR and AK engines; the product card gives AA, AB and AK engines. Other parts are in Sensors.
Fitting
Moisture and corrosion inside the connector are a common cause of false signals from sensors and switches, so clean the connector and use contact spray if needed. Renew the connector seal if it is missing. The part is chosen by part number, and its connector type is compared with the old part.
