Light switch 701/40500 JCB, aftermarket

Light switch 701/40500 is an aftermarket part for the JCB machines.

This switch is an angled-rocker panel switch used on older-style JCB cab panels, and the part number and pin numbers can be read on the body in the photo. According to sources, switches of this series are used on JCB backhoe loaders, Loadall and other machines for various cab functions. The switch clips into the panel hole by its side clips, with terminals pushed onto the flat pins at the back. Because its function depends on the machine's equipment, the new switch is chosen by comparing its number and number of positions with the old one. The pins at the back of switches in this series are numbered 1, 3, 5, 7 and so on, and the wires go onto the same numbers on the new switch. If the side clips of the body are broken, the switch moves in the panel, and a new switch is then used. The switch comes new.

Fitting

Do not wipe cab switches with wet cloths or solvents, since liquid seeps inside and oxidises the contacts. The switch is chosen by part number and its pin layout compared with the old one.
