For the JCB machines: number plate lamp (no plug) 700/21000, an aftermarket part.

LED number plate lamps draw less current than bulb types and are less affected by vibration. This part is offered in two versions: the plug version has a ready connector at the cable end that plugs straight into the machine harness, while the version without a plug has bare wire ends that are connected with suitable terminals or a connector. Protect joints made on bare ends from moisture with heat-shrink sleeving. The lamp is chosen by part number and connection type. The lamp cable near the rear bumper or counterweight is exposed to knocks and mud, so route it behind the bracket for protection. An unreadable plate at night can bring a fine, so check the lamp before driving. Clean the lens with water and a soft cloth, not solvent. The lamp's LEDs cannot be replaced individually; if the light weakens, the whole lamp is renewed.

Fitting

JCB 3CX and 4CX wiring diagrams before and after May 2009: sheets and component keys

Section C of the JCB service manual (publication 9803/3290-15) gives the JCB 3CX and 4CX backhoe loader wiring diagram in two versions: one for machines built up to May 2009 with analogue instruments and one for machines from May 2009 with the digital instrument panel. On the earlier machines the main machine circuit takes two sheets, with separate circuits for the gearboxes and options; the later circuit runs to 15 sheets. Below are the main sheets, the component keys and a guide to reading wire numbers.
