Alternator 12 V 95 A JCB Dieselmax AAK5840, OEM Mahle

OEM alternator MG74 made by Mahle is a 12 V 95 A unit matching types AAK5840 and AAK5807 and replacing JCB alternator 320/08610, 320/08649, 320/08560, 320/08719. The photo shows a housing with mounting bracket and a multi-groove pulley.

The alternator charges the battery and powers the machine's electrical loads while the engine runs. This is a 12 V 95 A alternator with internal fan and built-in voltage regulator, driven through a multi-groove pulley. A lit charge lamp, a flat battery, flickering lights or bearing noise are the usual signs of failure. Before replacing it, check the belt tension, charging cables and regulator; if only the regulator has failed, the voltage regulator is available separately.

The alternator is listed for JCB 3CX and 4CX backhoe loaders with the Dieselmax engine, JCB numbers 320/08610, 320/08649, 320/08560 and 320/08719; it matches Mahle (Letrika) types AAK5820 and AAK5840. Fitting

Disconnect the battery negative before removal. When fitting the new alternator, check the belt, replace it if worn and set the correct tension; the B+ cable and charge lamp wire must be clean and tight. After fitting, measure the charging voltage with the engine running: 13.8–14.4 V is normal.
