Radiator hose, upper KLH0167 is an aftermarket part for the JCB JS crawler excavators. According to the product card, this is the upper radiator hose.

This hose carries coolant or air between the engine and the radiator, thermostat, turbocharger, air filter or intercooler. Moulded rubber hoses are made pre-bent to the shape of their location and have reinforcing layers inside. Over time heat, pressure and ozone harden, crack or swell the hose internally. If a coolant hose bursts, the engine soon loses its coolant and overheats, and if an air hose cracks, the turbocharger draws in unfiltered air or there is power loss and black smoke. Cooling system hoses expand as the engine heats up and contract as it cools, and this constant movement eventually causes cracks around the clamps. It is worth tracking the age and hours of the hoses and replacing them before trouble starts.

Fitting

Before changing a coolant hose, let the engine cool and drain the coolant; for air hoses, stop the engine. Slacken the old clamps and remove the hose without straining the pipes. Clean the pipe ends, push the new hose fully home and tighten new clamps positioned behind the beads. Fill and bleed the cooling system, run the engine and check for leaks, then retighten the clamps after the first warm-up. After air hoses are fitted, check the joints for air leaks with the engine running.
