Oil seal 140368 is an aftermarket part for the backhoe loaders with Carraro axles.

An oil seal seals the point where a rotating shaft leaves an axle or transmission housing: its lip is pressed onto the shaft by a garter spring, keeping oil in and dust and water out. Seals at hubs, pinions, axle shafts and gearbox shafts harden or wear over time, and a leak can lower the oil level, contaminate the brake discs or leave the gears without lubrication.

Fitting

Clean the bore, lubricate the seal's outer surface and lip with clean oil and drive it squarely into place with a mandrel of suitable diameter, since a cocked seal leaks from the first run. Watch the direction: the spring-loaded lip faces the oil. After assembly, check the oil level and look for leaks after the first hours of work.
