Axle shaft bush 116962 Carraro, aftermarket

Axle shaft bush 116962 is an aftermarket part for the backhoe loaders with Carraro axles. This bush is the support bush of the axle shaft.

The trunnion bush is a large-diameter steel bush in the mounting of an oscillating axle that carries the axle's oscillation relative to the chassis. The axle oscillates over every bump, so the bush works under constant load and wears quickly without regular greasing. A worn bush lets the axle move relative to the chassis, causes a knock when changing direction and damages the trunnion seat, so that not only the bush but the trunnion mount may have to be replaced.

Fitting

For the change, raise the machine securely and support the axle. Press out the old bushes with a suitable tool and clean the bores. Press the new bushes in squarely and fully home, fit the pin and tighten the bolts to the specified torque. After assembly, grease the nipples. The bush comes new; before fitting, check that the bore is clean, free of burrs and not oval. A worn pivot pin is replaced too, since it will soon wear a new bush oval. Fit the bush so its grease grooves line up with the grease nipple hole. After assembly, check the axle's full oscillation and that it does not bind.
