Winter wiper blade, aftermarket

The blade is chosen by length (for example 600 mm or 800 mm), connection type and position (front or rear glass). Winter blades are covered with a rubber boot against snow and icing and work better on frozen glass. When the blade is changed, the arm's spring force and the glass surface are checked too, as scratched glass soon wears a new blade. Check the blades at the start of every season; front and rear blades are usually changed together. Keeping the rubber clean and washing the glass regularly extends blade life, while running the wipers on frozen glass can tear the rubber at once.

Fitting

Lift the arm off the glass and place a cloth between them so the arm cannot strike the glass. Unclip the old blade and push the new one on until it locks. Lower the arm gently onto the glass and run the wiper on wet glass to check it clears without streaks. Never run the wipers on dry glass.
