Vent window handle, right 331/34996 JCB 3CX/4CX, aftermarket

For the JCB 3CX and 4CX backhoe loaders: vent window handle, right 331/34996, an aftermarket part. This is the right handle of the vent window.

The handle is chosen by part number for its position (left or right, upper or lower) and machine version. When it is replaced, the linkage cable, lock mechanism and window hinges are checked too. The handle mechanism is cleaned and lubricated regularly, as a sticking handle can break if forced. The link between the handle and lock is adjusted so that full handle travel releases the lock, otherwise the door may not open from inside. This is an important safety point for emergency exit and is tested at every service. If the handle's return spring weakens, the handle does not spring back and the lock may stay open. If the handle's fixing screws loosen, the handle wobbles and strains the lock mechanism, so the screws are tightened periodically.

Fitting

Remove the old handle by undoing its screws and disconnect the cable if there is one. Fit the new handle in the same place, connect the cable and tighten the screws. After fitting, check that the door opens easily from inside or that the window opens fully and locks.
