Toolbox lock 123/08087 is an aftermarket part for the JCB 3CX and 4CX backhoe loaders. This is the toolbox lock.

A lock mechanism holds a cab door, bonnet or toolbox securely closed and lets it be opened with an outer or inner handle. A cab door lock keeps the door from opening while driving and keeps the operator safe, while a bonnet catch protects the engine bay and stops it opening with vibration. A worn or rusted lock opens stiffly, fails to latch fully or will not hold the door open. Internal lock mechanisms are usually linked to the handle by a cable. The door lock also lets the cab be locked against theft and unauthorised use. Opening easily from inside is essential for emergency exit.

Fitting

Before changing the lock, fix the door open and remove the inner trim. Mark and disconnect the handle cables and rods and remove the lock bolts. Fit the new lock in the same position, reconnect the linkages and, before closing the door, check the lock works from the handles. Finally check that the door closes easily and latches fully, adjusting the striker if needed. When fitting the lock, adjust the cable slack, as a taut cable can release the lock by itself.
