Mirror assembly 334/E0829 JCB 3CX/4CX, aftermarket

Mirror assembly 334/E0829 is an aftermarket part for the JCB 3CX and 4CX backhoe loaders. According to the product card, this is a complete mirror assembly; the card also lists 123/04970 and 477/01608.

A rear-view mirror lets the operator see behind and to the sides of the machine, reducing blind spots and improving safety when manoeuvring, reversing and driving on the road. On construction machines mirrors are exposed to vibration, knocks and branches, and a mirror with broken glass or one that will not hold its setting becomes useless. In many countries sound mirrors are compulsory on machines that use public roads. Mirrors may be mounted outside or inside the cab. If only the glass is broken and it can be replaced on its own, that option is considered too, provided the housing and adjuster are sound. In winter, ice on the glass is removed without scratching it. Being able to fold the mirror housing saves it from breaking in an impact, so the folding joint is kept clean and lightly greased.

Fitting

Bolt the mirror to its bracket or cab mounting and tighten the bolts so they will not work loose with vibration. Then, sitting in the operator's seat, adjust the mirror to show the side and rear of the machine and tighten the adjusting screw.
