Bonnet release cable 910/60199 JCB, aftermarket

Bonnet release cable 910/60199 is an aftermarket part for the JCB machines.

The bonnet release cable runs from the handle in the cab or on the side of the machine to the bonnet catch and opens the catch when the handle is pulled. The cable slides inside an outer sleeve, and if water and dirt get in, the cable rusts, stiffens and eventually snaps. A broken cable makes access to the engine bay difficult and gets in the way of daily checks. The cable is chosen by part number according to its length and end fittings. The cable and handle mechanism are lubricated against freezing in winter. With a broken cable, the bonnet can be opened by hand from the engine bay side, as shown in the operator's manual.

Fitting

Disconnect the old cable from the catch and handle, noting its route. Thread the new cable along the same route, attach its ends to the catch and handle and secure it with clips. Adjust the tension so the catch closes fully when the handle is released, and open and close the bonnet a few times to test it.
