Guards are chosen by part number for the machine model and side; some are supplied as a set with fixings. When fitting, make sure the guard does not touch the part it protects and does not rattle under vibration. A bent guard is not straightened, as the metal fatigues and breaks at the next knock; it is replaced with a new one. The fixing bolts of guards can loosen under vibration; a loose guard rattles and eventually breaks off, so the bolts are checked during service. Rear lamp guards are designed to be removed and refitted when lamp lenses and bulbs are changed.

Fitting
