8PK1435 poly-V belt is an aftermarket part for the JCB machines. The 8PK marking means an 8-rib poly-V belt, and the number after it is the length in millimetres.

The drive belt carries power from the crankshaft pulley to the alternator, water pump, fan and air conditioning compressor. Machines mostly use multi-rib (poly-V, for example 8PK) or V-belts. Over time a belt stretches, hardens and cracks across its ribs; a loose or worn belt slips and squeals, the alternator stops charging, the engine overheats or the air conditioning stops working. A broken belt stops the water pump and fan and can overheat the engine quickly. The belt must be kept away from oil and fuel, as oil softens the rubber and causes slipping.

Compatibility

The card gives no original part number. Fit is confirmed by the dimensions and machine model. Other parts are in Perkins belts.

Fitting

Before fitting the belt, stop the engine, release the tensioner and note the belt's routing. Seat the new belt in the correct grooves of all the pulleys, then release the tensioner or set the tension to the maker's value. Check the belt again after running the engine briefly.
