The cutter is replaced before its wear reaches the bucket side plate. If the bucket side plates are to be repaired by welding, the side cutters are removed first, as welding heat spoils the bolts and softens the cutter. After the repair the holes are cleaned and the cutter refitted with new fixings. Left and right side cutters are specified separately when ordering.
