For the JCB 3CX and 4CX backhoe loaders: HB500 double-sided edge 2450x20x210 990/69901, an aftermarket part. HB500 denotes wear steel of about 500 Brinell hardness. The edge has 9 bolt holes and two bevels.

Edges differ in length, thickness, width, bevel and hole pattern and are chosen for the width and model of the bucket. The material determines wear life: wear-resistant steels such as HARDOX HB400 and HB500 last longer in hard ground, while spring steel such as 65G is more economical. Weld-on edges are fitted with electrodes suited to the material and with preheating, as overheating reduces the hardness of the steel. When the edge is replaced, the front of the bucket floor and the side cutter mountings are checked as well. The holes in the new edge are compared with those in the bucket.
