Hydraulic cylinder seal kit 746099 is an aftermarket part for the Manitou telehandlers.

A hydraulic cylinder seal kit contains what is needed to make a cylinder tight again: the rod seal (U-cup), wiper, piston seal, guide (wear) rings, O-rings and back-up rings. The rod seal in the gland stops oil escaping, the wiper keeps dirt on the rod from getting in, and the piston seal stops oil passing between the two chambers. The guide rings centre the piston and rod and keep the metal parts from rubbing on each other.

Fitting

Before removing the cylinder, lower the attachment to the ground, stop the engine and work the levers a few times to release the pressure, capping the hose ends so no dirt gets in. Undo the gland with a suitable spanner and carefully withdraw the rod and piston. Clean and inspect the grooves, then fit the seals in the same order and orientation as the old ones. After assembly, reconnect the cylinder, top up the hydraulic oil and purge air with slow movements on first start-up. After the first working day, grease the cylinder mounting pins and check the rod for any trace of oil.
