Protective coatings guard the machine's metal surfaces and electrical connections against corrosion and keep up its appearance. Wax-based corrosion inhibitors form a water-repellent film on the inside of box sections and the chassis; battery terminal lacquers seal connections against oxidation; and rust converters turn surface rust into a stable layer that can be painted over. Paint covers bare metal on repaired and scratched areas and renews the machine's colour. Unused product is stored in its tightly closed pack in a cool, dry place.
