Check the oil level with the dipstick on level ground a few minutes after stopping the engine; it should be between the marks. Overfilling is as harmful as underfilling, as the crankshaft whips the oil into foam and it starts to escape past the seals. Store the oil in its closed pack in a clean, dry place and fill through a clean funnel. Used oil and filters are not poured onto the ground or into drains but taken to a collection point. The colour of the oil alone does not show when it needs changing.

Use

Change the oil with the engine warm so that the old oil drains better together with the dirt. Renew the drain plug washer, oil the seal of the new filter and fill the engine with the specified quantity. After running the engine briefly, check the level again and top up if necessary.
