Twin-cylinder air compressor 5336-3509012 is an aftermarket part for the MAZ trucks.

The air compressor produces compressed air for the air brakes and auxiliary air systems. It is a piston pump driven from the engine by a belt or gear, and its air goes to the reservoirs through the pressure governor and air dryer. The cylinders are lubricated by engine oil and cooled by engine coolant or air. A worn compressor fills the reservoirs slowly, carries oil into the delivery air and overheats, and oil in the air collects in the brake valves and causes them to fail too.

Fitting

The compressor is chosen by output (here 210 litres per minute), pulley type and mounting flange. Before fitting, clean the oil feed and return lines and check the cooling hoses, and on a belt drive set the belt tension. On the first run, time how long the reservoirs take to fill and check the delivery line for oil. After a compressor change, renew the air dryer cartridge too, since oil carried over by the old compressor may have saturated it.
