Hydraulic tank breather 333/X2764 is a genuine JCB part for the JCB 3CX and 4CX backhoe loaders.

The hydraulic tank breather lets the tank breathe as the oil level changes with cylinder movement and traps dust in the incoming air. A blocked breather creates a vacuum in the tank that makes it harder for the pump to draw oil, or lets pressure build up in the tank; a damaged breather lets dust and moisture into the tank. Dust in the oil is the most common cause of pump, valve and cylinder wear, so the breather is checked and replaced at the intervals in the maker's service schedule. The genuine JCB breather comes with the filter element JCB specifies. The photo shows the breather's ribbed body and top. When changing the breather, check the seal of the tank opening as well. On machines working in dusty conditions, check the breather more often. The breather is chosen by part number. The genuine breather is chosen by its JCB number and compared with the old one.

JCB 3CX / 4CX Hydraulic Pressure: Settings, Pressure Testing and Causes of Low Pressure

On JCB 3CX and 4CX backhoe loaders with a gear pump, the working pressure of the hydraulic system is limited by the main relief valve in the loader valve: 236–241 bar on machines up to serial number 964124 and 248–252 bar on machines from serial number 964125 (standard and high-pressure hydraulics). It is checked with a 0–400 bar pressure gauge connected to the loader valve test point, with the engine at 1500 rev/min and the oil warmed to 50 °C. Below are the settings, the test procedure and the reasons why pressure drops, taken from the JCB service manual (Section E).
