Steering unit (orbitrol) 332/G5651 is a genuine JCB part for the JCB machines.

The steering unit (orbitrol) is a rotary metering unit on the steering column: as the wheel turns, it sends oil to the steering cylinder in proportion to the amount of turn. Inside are a rotary spool and a gerotor metering set; with the engine stopped, the gerotor acts as a hand pump and gives limited steering. A worn unit causes steering play, wandering, heavy steering or a wheel that does not self-centre. The unit sends the load-sensing signal to the priority valve. The unit is supplied new. Its displacement sets how much oil goes to the cylinder per turn of the wheel, and so the steering sensitivity; a unit of different displacement changes the steering feel. Relief and shock valves inside protect the steering circuit from shocks coming through the wheels. Steering that drifts left or right by itself with the engine running points to internal leakage in the unit. The unit has a cast iron body, comes with its ports capped and has the same connection threads as the old unit.
