Pump coupling flange (polyamide) 264 is an aftermarket part for the construction machinery with hydraulic pumps.

The polyamide flange coupling consists of a glass-fibre reinforced polyamide flange bolted to the engine flywheel and a toothed steel hub on the pump shaft. The internal teeth of the flange mesh with the crowned teeth of the hub to transmit torque and accommodate small angular misalignment; the coupling is torsionally stiff and maintenance-free. Worn internal teeth cause play and knocking, and a cracked flange can break under load. A polyamide flange is lighter than a metal one and does not corrode, but excessive heat and oil vapour age the material over time.

Fitting

The flange is chosen by the flywheel mounting dimensions (outside diameter and bolt hole pattern) and the hub tooth count. When changing it, check the hub teeth too, since a worn hub soon ruins a new flange. Tighten the flange bolts to the specified torque and, after assembly, run the engine at idle to check there is no knocking. If the flange teeth show melting or discoloration, also check the alignment and the pump bearings.
