Injection pump return spring 17/110903 is an aftermarket part for the Perkins-engined JCB machines.

The return spring pulls the injection pump's throttle (load) lever or stop lever back to its rest position. Thanks to the spring the engine returns to idle when the control is released and the linkage works without slack. A weakened or broken spring can stop the revs dropping when the throttle is released, make the idle unstable or prevent the engine being stopped, affecting both control of the machine and safety. The spring is chosen by part number for the pump type, as its length and rate are set for correct control operation. When fitting, check that the spring ends are fully seated.

Fitting

When changing the spring, check that the control lever and linkage move freely.
