Links (trapezium links, boomerangs, dog bones) are jointed intermediate parts that pass the movement of a cylinder to the bucket or dipper. On the loader arm the tilt cylinder opens and closes the bucket through the trapezium and links; on the backhoe the links give the bucket a wider angle of rotation. These parts work under heavy load, and worn eyes or a bent link upset the bucket geometry and make the joints knock. The link joints are greased every day. A bent link is not straightened but replaced, as straightened steel is fatigued and will bend again under load. The link pins are secured with their retainers. Left and right levers are mirror images and are ordered separately.
