Air filter, outer 32/915701 is an aftermarket part for the JCB skid steers and wheeled loaders. This element is the outer (primary) element of a two-stage air filter.

The air filter traps dust and sand in the air drawn in by the engine, protecting the cylinders, pistons and turbocharger compressor from wear. Construction machines work in dusty conditions, so the air filter is one of the most frequently serviced parts. In two-stage systems the outer (primary) element catches most of the dust, while the inner (safety) element protects the engine if the primary is damaged or while it is being changed. A clogged filter starves the engine of air, causing loss of power, black smoke and higher fuel use. When the outer element is changed, check that the inner one is in place and clean; the inner element is renewed at its service interval or when dirty.

According to sources, outer element 32/915701 works with inner element 32/915702 on JCB 225T-330 skid steers, 410ZX and 411ZX wheeled loaders and the TM270 and TM300. Other parts are in Terex filters.

Fitting

After fitting, check the hose clamps and joints in the intake: even a small leak after the filter lets unfiltered air go straight into the engine. Reset the restriction indicator if fitted. Record the date and engine hours of the change in the service log.
