The air filter change interval depends on how dusty the working conditions are, which is why many machines have a restriction indicator and the filter is changed when it warns. Cleaning the element with compressed air and reusing it is not advised, since invisible tears can form in the paper and dust passes straight into the engine. When choosing an element, compare its dimensions, seal type and part number with the old one, since an element of the wrong size leaves a gap in the housing.

Fitting

Before the change, stop the engine and clean the outside of the filter housing so no dust falls into the intake side when it is opened. Remove the old element carefully and wipe the inside of the housing and the seal face with a damp cloth; never blow compressed air into the clean side of the housing. Fit the new element fully home and close the cover clips. The dust valve, where fitted, must be intact and pointing down.
