Exhaust stack pipe 123/03178 is an aftermarket part for the JCB 3CX and 4CX backhoe loaders.

The exhaust stack takes gas from the silencer upwards, away from the cab and operator. A rusted, cracked or crushed pipe lets exhaust reach the engine bay and cab area and increases noise. The pipe outlet is shaped to reduce rain getting in. The pipe is steel, painted or coated, yet it corrodes inside and out over time. Rain water and condensation entering the outlet speed up rusting at the bottom. Because of its height, the pipe can strike branches and obstacles, and a bent pipe restricts exhaust flow. Height and direction are chosen to keep exhaust away from the operator's cab. The pipe is the last part of the exhaust line and as important as any joint, since a leak here is closest to the operator. Soot and rust inside the pipe can restrict the flow over time.

Fitting

After starting, check the joint for exhaust leaks. Using a new clamp is recommended. The seal where the pipe passes the bonnet can be renewed as well.
