Oil dipstick 320/04249 JCB Dieselmax, aftermarket

Aftermarket dipstick 320/04249 is for checking the sump oil level on the JCB Dieselmax engine. The photo shows a long dipstick with a red T-handle; it fits the existing dipstick tube.

The dipstick measures the engine oil level in the sump; a level between the lower and upper marks is normal. A broken, bent or worn-mark dipstick gives false readings: overfilling makes the oil foam, while underfilling can damage the bearings. The dipstick must be the right length so that its marks match the level in the sump.

Compatibility

The dipstick is listed for JCB 3CX and 4CX backhoe loaders with the Dieselmax engine. If it has to be replaced with its tube, there is the dipstick with tube 320/04276; engine parts are in JCB Dieselmax engine.

Fitting

Check the oil level on level ground a few minutes after stopping the engine. After fitting a new dipstick, the first reading can be checked against a sump with a known oil quantity. Replace the guide seal or O-ring if it is damaged.
