Oil cooler assembly 320/A4173 JCB Dieselmax, genuine

For the JCB Dieselmax 444 and 448 engines: oil cooler assembly 320/A4173, a genuine JCB part. The card also lists 320/04147.

Replacing the assembly is quicker than handling cover and cooler separately and avoids problems with damaged sealing faces on the old cover. It is replaced after a pressure test when oil and coolant mix. Both systems are flushed after the swap. Because the oil filter mounts on the assembly, it is easy to check it for leaks at each filter change. The assembly is cast aluminium and brings the oil and coolant passages together in one body. The assembly bolts to the side of the block.

Fitting

Fit the assembly with new gaskets and tighten the bolts evenly. Then change the oil and filter, fill and bleed the cooling system and run the engine to check the joints. The coolant mixture must follow the JCB recommendation. Check the gaskets are correctly placed before fitting.
