Glow plug 333/D2049 JCB, aftermarket

Glow plug 333/D2049 is an aftermarket part for the JCB machines. The card also lists 717/20224.

The glow plug screws into the cylinder head with its tip reaching into the combustion chamber; on a cold start it glows within seconds, heats the air and helps the fuel ignite. A failed plug causes hard cold starting, white smoke in the first minutes and rough idle. Plugs are checked by measuring their resistance with an ohmmeter and are usually replaced as a set. Badly seized plugs are removed carefully, because a tip that breaks off into the combustion chamber can cause serious damage. The plugs may also stay on briefly after starting to improve combustion in the first minutes. Thread, length and voltage must match when choosing a plug. The plug is supplied new.

Fitting

Clean the plug seat, apply high-temperature paste to the thread and tighten the plug to the specified torque, since overtightening can break it. The electrical connection must be clean and tight. After fitting, switch on the pre-heat and check starting on a cold engine.
