Gear 320/05137 is an aftermarket part for the JCB Dieselmax 444 engine.

A gear passes drive from one shaft to another in the engine gear train; its tooth count and profile make the driven unit turn at the right speed and timing. Worn, pitted or broken teeth cause whine, vibration and growing backlash, and in the timing train this directly affects how the engine runs. The gear is fixed to its shaft by a key, dowel or interference fit. When replacing a gear, check the mating gear for wear too. The gear is hardened steel, and its tooth faces may be ground. Low oil pressure or poor oil speeds up tooth wear. The gear is supplied new, with its tooth count and hub size defined by the part number. Keep the gear in its packaging until fitting. Gears can also be replaced as a set.

Fitting
