Flywheel housing 320/05159 is a genuine JCB part for the JCB Dieselmax 444 engine.

The flywheel housing bolts to the rear of the block; it encloses the flywheel, carries the starter and forms the flange the transmission mounts to. Accurate centring is needed so that the transmission input shaft runs on the same axis as the crankshaft. A cracked housing or damaged flange leads to early failure of transmission seals and bearings, leaks and vibration. The housing carries the loads between engine and transmission and is under constant vibration while the machine works. Loose bolts can crack its flange. The housing is a casting, and the starter bore and fixing holes differ with the engine and transmission version. The housing is supplied new. The housing is heavy and lifting gear is needed to fit it. The housing is a casting.

JCB Dieselmax Engine in the JCB 3CX / 4CX: Builds, Technical Data and Servicing

Section K of the JCB service manual (publication 9803/3290-14) deals with the installation of the JCB Dieselmax engine in JCB 3C, 3CX and 4CX backhoe loaders. It gives the technical data for each engine build, the cold start heater electrics with their fault codes and the operation of the viscous fan coupling, together with the removal procedures for the radiator, expansion tank, fuel injection pump and the engine itself. The PDF runs to 30 pages.
