Dowel M10x25 (chamfered) 320/01526 is a genuine JCB part for the JCB Dieselmax 444 engine.

A dowel locates two parts exactly relative to each other: the bolts provide clamping force while the dowel stops the parts shifting. A lost or damaged dowel lets the parts move off-centre, causes gasket leaks and upsets shaft and gear alignment. The dowel is hardened steel with a chamfer at one end. In dowelled joints the bolt holes are slightly larger than the dowels, so only the dowels set the position of the parts. A joint assembled without a dowel may therefore stay out of position even with the bolts tight.

JCB Dieselmax Engine in the JCB 3CX / 4CX: Builds, Technical Data and Servicing

Section K of the JCB service manual (publication 9803/3290-14) deals with the installation of the JCB Dieselmax engine in JCB 3C, 3CX and 4CX backhoe loaders. It gives the technical data for each engine build, the cold start heater electrics with their fault codes and the operation of the viscous fan coupling, together with the removal procedures for the radiator, expansion tank, fuel injection pump and the engine itself. The PDF runs to 30 pages.
