Cylinder liner 320/00001 JCB Dieselmax, 103 mm, aftermarket, option 2

Cylinder liner 320/00001 is the second aftermarket option for the JCB Dieselmax 444 engine; the card numbers are 14-021970-00, DG140219700 and 88790190. The photos show a plain liner with the maker's logo on the outside.

A cylinder liner brings a damaged bore back to the standard diameter. When scoring, wear or a crack goes beyond the oversize limit, the bore is machined, the liner is pressed in and then honed to suit a standard piston. The block does not have to be replaced, and the engine runs on standard pistons and rings. The liner bore is 103 mm, the standard bore of the Dieselmax 444.

Compatibility

The liner is listed for JCB 3CX and 4CX backhoe loaders with the Dieselmax 444 engine; check the SB code on the engine plate. The same number is also available as the Goetze OEM liner and another aftermarket liner; other parts are in JCB Dieselmax engine.

Fitting

Fitting a liner needs machining and is done in an engine shop: the block is bored to suit the liner's outside diameter, the liner is pressed in, its top is brought flush with the block face and the bore is honed. The engine is then built with the standard piston 320/09211 and the SB top gasket set.
