Connecting rod 320/03114 JCB Dieselmax, OEM

For the JCB Dieselmax 444 engine: connecting rod 320/03114, an OEM part. The card also lists 320/03448, 320/03379.

Rod and cap are machined together, so caps are never swapped between rods. Rods in one engine should be close in weight; replacing a single rod can cause vibration if the weight differs. The photos show a rod with a bush in the small end and a bolted cap. When selecting, compare the part number and the casting marks on the old rod. When a rod is replaced, the big-end bearings and rod bolts are renewed as well. The engine has four rods, and each is numbered and fitted to its own cylinder. The part number is marked on the rod body.

Fitting

On assembly, match the piston mark and the rod oil hole position to the service manual. Tighten the bolts in stages and check the rod side clearance while turning the crankshaft.
