Backhoe loaders work in dust, so a sound filter housing is decisive for engine life. The inlet and outlet connections and hose clamps must also seal; a loose hose after the filter bypasses it completely. Replacing the filter elements together with the housing is recommended. The dust valve on the housing ejects collected dust while the engine runs; a blocked or torn valve makes the filter clog faster. The housing is held by brackets in the machine's engine bay.
