Thermostat AK/AR 02/202107 is an aftermarket part for the Perkins-engined JCB machines. According to the product card, the thermostat is for Perkins AK and AR-series engines.
The thermostat stops coolant reaching the radiator while the engine is cold, so it warms up quickly, then opens at its opening temperature to send coolant to the radiator. This keeps the engine at the right working temperature in all conditions. A thermostat stuck open makes the engine slow to warm up, raises fuel consumption and weakens the cab heater in winter, while one stuck closed causes rapid overheating and engine damage. It works by the expansion of a wax element as it heats up. The thermostat can also be checked by heating it in water and watching the opening temperature with a thermometer.

Compatibility
According to the product card, 02/202107 is a thermostat. The card also lists 02/201544, 4133L036, 2485C034. Fit is confirmed by the part number. The catalogue also has the genuine version of this part. Other parts are in Thermostats.
Fitting
Before the change, let the engine cool and drain the coolant below the thermostat. Remove the thermostat housing and clean the faces. Fit the new thermostat the right way round (wax element towards the engine) with a new gasket and tighten the bolts to the specified torque. After filling and bleeding the system, run the engine and check that the top radiator hose heats up as the engine warms and the temperature stays normal.
