Transmission solenoid valve 146640 is an aftermarket part for the backhoe loaders with Carraro axles.

A transmission solenoid valve is a cartridge-type valve fitted in the gearbox control valve that directs oil to the clutches on an electrical signal. When the operator changes gear or direction, the relevant solenoid is energised, the cartridge opens and oil pressure engages the matching clutch. A faulty solenoid can cause no drive in one gear or direction, late or harsh shifts, or clutch slip. Before replacing it, measure the coil resistance and check the connector and wiring; if the coil is sound, check whether the cartridge is dirty or stuck.
