Transmission pump seal 7X-4741 Carraro, aftermarket

For the backhoe loaders with Carraro axles: transmission pump seal 7X-4741, an aftermarket part. This seal is the shaft seal of the transmission oil pump.

Seals are defined by inside and outside diameter, width and lip type (single lip, with dust lip, cassette), and since seals of the same size come in different designs, the choice is made by part number. When changing a seal, check the shaft surface under the lip, since a groove worn there will soon make the new seal leak too, and the shaft or a wear sleeve must then be replaced.

Fitting

Clean the bore, lubricate the seal's outer surface and lip with clean oil and drive it squarely into place with a mandrel of suitable diameter, since a cocked seal leaks from the first run. Watch the direction: the spring-loaded lip faces the oil. After assembly, check the oil level and look for leaks after the first hours of work.
