Transmission flange 137303 Carraro, genuine

Transmission flange 137303 is a genuine JCB part for the backhoe loaders with Carraro axles. This flange is the propshaft flange of the transmission output shaft.

The yoke flange connects the propshaft to the axle pinion or the transmission output; its splined hub fits on the pinion and the universal joint mounts in its yoke. When the seal face wears, oil leaks past the pinion seal, and worn splines cause a clunk when moving off. A flange with elongated joint bores soon ruins a new universal joint as well. If the flange nut has worked loose, the pinion bearing preload may also have been lost.

Fitting

For the change, remove the propshaft and undo the pinion nut while holding the pinion still. Pull off the old flange with a puller; the new flange's seal face must be clean and unscratched. Push the flange squarely onto the splines, tighten and lock the nut, then reconnect the propshaft to the specified torque. The flange comes new; check that the dust shield is intact and the seal face unscratched. A worn propshaft joint is replaced in the same job. Compare the flange splines with the pinion splines; the spline count and diameter must match.
